《光之間》是一件以光線與空間對話的燈光裝置，設置於勤美術館一樓大廳。作品靈感源於勤美術館建築的「掀起大地」概念，以「掀」、「擴展」與「動態」作為光線的視覺語彙，透過雷射光束的投射，將單一光點逐漸延展成線，轉化為牆面上輕盈而富有變化的波動影像，回應場域特性。
作品名稱《光之間》意在凸顯多層次的空間意涵。第一層意指裝置存在於建築物內天花板與地之間的空間，展現光線在此縫隙中的律動。同時，作品也置身於不同展期作品之間，作為一個與其他作品對話的連結點。更進一步地，《光之間》希望成為觀看與體驗的模糊地帶，在作品和氛圍中探索更多可能性。這樣的「之間」是一種縫隙，在縫隙中孕育出細微的變化與新的觀看方式。
閉館後，觀者站在綠園道遠眺，透過落地窗可以看到光影在大廳內變化流轉，建築彷彿在夜色中浮現出動的樣態；而走入美術館內，觀眾則進入一個被光線與片狀天花板交織出的空間，感受光影與結構間的對話。作品透過多重視角引導觀眾的觀展經驗，從戶外光影與建築的框架及周圍景觀對話，到室內雷射光束在天花板與牆面間穿梭，塑造出兼具動態與秩序的視覺效果。
此裝置也為媒體建築探索更多可能性，作品作為一個載體，隨著展期與季節的變化，呈現出不斷延展的光影敘事。透過《光之間》，空間成為光影流動與空間共鳴的場所，讓觀者能重新思考設計、藝術、建築與自然之間的連結。
In Between is a light installation that engages in a dialogue between light and space, situated in the ground-floor lobby of CMP Inspiration. Inspired by the architectural concept of "lifting the earth" embedded in the museum's design, the work adopts "lifting," "expansion," and "movement" as the visual vocabulary of light. Through the projection of laser beams, a single point of light gradually extends into a line and transforms into gentle, ever-shifting undulations across the wall surfaces, responding to the distinctive qualities of the site.
The title In Between is intended to foreground multiple layers of spatial meaning. On one level, it refers to the physical space between the ceiling and the ground within the building, where light pulses through the interstice. At the same time, the work exists between the exhibitions of different periods, serving as a connective node in dialogue with other artworks. On a deeper level, In Between seeks to become a liminal zone between seeing and experiencing, exploring further possibilities within the interplay of artwork and atmosphere. This "in-between" is a kind of interstitial space — one that nurtures subtle shifts and new ways of seeing.
After the museum closes, viewers standing along the greenway can gaze through the floor-to-ceiling windows and observe the play of light shifting within the lobby, as though the building itself comes alive in the night. Upon entering the museum, visitors step into a space woven from light and the building's slab-like ceiling planes, experiencing a dialogue between luminous projection and architectural structure. The work guides the viewing experience through multiple vantage points: from the exterior, where light and shadow converse with the building's framework and surrounding landscape; to the interior, where laser beams traverse between ceiling and walls, producing a visual effect that is at once dynamic and ordered.
The installation also explores new possibilities for media architecture. Functioning as a vessel, the work presents an ever-evolving narrative of light and shadow that shifts with each exhibition cycle and season. Through In Between, space becomes a site where light flows and resonates with architecture, inviting viewers to reconsider the connections among design, art, architecture, and nature.
